Statement on Hurricane Sandy Disaster

As you all know, Hurricane Sandy has devastated areas of New York, New Jersey, and other areas of the Northeastern United States, while claiming at least 27 lives in the United States.We at Istanbul Center wish to stand with those affected by the storm, and we sincerely hope and pray for the quickest recovery possible for all those who have suffered from this disaster.

Message of Empathy for the Victims of the Sikh Temple Shooting

On Sunday, August 5th in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, an armed and disturbed ex-soldier with connections to white supremacist groups entered a Sikh temple, opening fire upon unarmed worshippers and killing six people, in an act referred to as "domestic terrorism" by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Milwaukee field office. Istanbul Center wishes to express our condolences to the victims, survivors, both their friends and families and the American Sikh community in the wake of this horrific massacre, a blatant and inexcusable act of prejudice and violence.

Istanbul Center Expresses Condolences to the Victims of the Christmas Day Attacks in Nigeria

Istanbul Center would like to take the time to offer our condolences to the victims and survivors of the brutal bombings that occurred on this year's Christmas Day in the West African nation of Nigeria On December 25, 2011 terrorists from the Boko Haram group in Nigeria – notorious for years of sectarian, anti-Christian, anti-Western violence – yet again carried out Christmas Day attacks on at least five Christian houses of worship in the cities of Jos, Madalla, Kano, Damaturu, and Gadaka. Sadly, dozens of people were killed and wounded and the city of Madalla alone reported the loss of at least thirty lives as a result of the violence.
